The Boscarelli winery was founded in 1962 by Paola Corradi and her husband, Ippolito De Ferrari. The first harvest was in 1965 and the first Nobile label with the family coat of arms was printed for the 1967 vintage of only 500 bottles. Today helping Paola in the management of the winery are her two children, Luca and Nicolò, who persist in their goal to produce wines that bring out the characteristics of Vino Nobile in these splendid hills of Cervognano. There are approximately 12 hectares in production with about 75,000 bottles produced, 65% of which are for foreign markets.

Everything is meticulously taken care of in order to unite the characteristics of the terroir and technological innovations in the best way. There are important clonal selections for Sangiovese, the use of rigorously local yeasts, the choise of certain vats for vinification: all this extract the best from each bunch of grapes. These wines of great complexity, which improve their elegance through ageing, come from vines planted on chalky land of alluvial origin with a good percentage of clay.

From the production, the first chosen wine is the Nocio dei Boscarelli Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2003 from the del Nocio vineyard cru of about three hectares, characterised by the presence of very old walnut trees. The unique grapes of Prugnolo Gentile vineyard age from 18 to 24 months in Slavonian oak barrels and French Allier casks after malolactic fermentation in wood. Intense ruby red in colour. On the nose scents of mature fruit such as blueberry and plum are noticeable. In the mouth it is carresing with well-present tannins and a good length in the finish. Great structure for an excellent ageing, a first-class wine!

The 2004 Nobile di Montepulciano is also a very interesting wine of mainly Sangiovese with small additions of other grape types like Malvasia and Colorino ageing in barrels in varying sizes from 18 to 24 months. A good ruby red color. Intense scents of red fruit and spices. Of an extraordinary immediate pleasure with an exemplary acidic-tannin balance. Oak is present but never excessive. With a long varied finish, it is an ideal wine for many palates.
