Le Berne began in the 1960s when Egisto Natalini and his son, Giuliano, decided to make wine from the grapes of their vineyards embarking on their winemaking venture. In the early days, the wine was sold in bulk until the 1997 harvest when the winery released its first Nobile label. Giuliano's son Andrea, an agriculturist, was behind the big change in the estate and took over the management of the winery in 1995 bringing with him the necessary innovation to produce wines of great quality. The vineyards, located at 350 metres above sea level, range in age from the most recently planted, seven years old, to the oldest, forty years old. The ground is of a medium mixture tending to clay, which is ideal for wines of great structure.

There are six hectares wich produce about 28.000 bottles approximately 70% of which are destined for foreign markets. After excellent results in sales and various awards from the press in the wine sector, it can be said that Andrea has won the best with his father to bring this small family winery to the top of Nobile di Montepulciano production. Given that Andrea strongly believes in the typicality of the territory, success is guaranteed for his future product of the winery, a wine based on the Colorino variety, which he recently revealed to me.

The first wine I would like to speak is this wonderful Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva 2003. A blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Colorino, it ages for three years both in traditional barrels and small French oak barrels. It is produced only for certain vintages. A good ruby red colour. Surprising in the mouth for its robustness and elegant tones. Well-present but balancedtannins. Pleasant finisch with vegetal aromas. A wine that can give even more with bottle ageing and that cannot be missed.

His Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2004 is interesting with its captivating bouquet featuring almost sweet notes of natural fruit and floral hints. On the palate, its great character shines through with a unique pleasantness. Deep finisch with balsamic encore. A continually growing winery. bravo Andrea!
