Landing in Montalcino at the end of the 1980s with a great passion for the countryside and the world of wine, Signor Piero Palmucci started to carefully choose and buy various vineyards in different locations within the municipality of Montalcino, already renowned for its production of Brunello. The area is influenced by the sea, only 50km away across the map, and shielded by Monte Amiata. The first bottle came out on the market in 1990 and, since then, Palmuccci's primary objective has been the quest for a top quality wine which mirrors the characteristics of a true and pure Sangiovese.

Work on the vines is meticulous in order to obtain excellent grapes. Today there are 11 hectares in production for a total of about 30.000 bottles. The details in all areas of production are incredible from the sorting table where each bunch is checked one by one the decision to harvest with low yields ( 35 quintals per hectare) and even to the decision to work the best specialists in the field of enology.

The products are of a high level resulting in infinite awards in Italy and from abroad. The choice to use only 30hl oak barrels and to age the wine for about four years embody the foundations of a true first-class Brunello. Since April 2007, the winery has used organic methods. With regards to the wine, we can mention a Rosso di Montalcino 2004 of great spirit. A deeply concentrated ruby colour. An interesting bouquet with an array of flowers and red fruit. Exemplary tannins. Two years in oak barrels make this Rosso truly a little Brunello.

Comparable to a true work of art is the Brunello 2000 with its great personality which evolves with each passing minute. Its mineral qualities, typical of this territory, and a sweet and precise tannin alternate like notes of a sweet symphony. Signor Piero recommends opening the bottle about ten hours before serving to best enjoy the wine. Truly a collector's wine. This year there will also be an IGT wine to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of making Brunello at the winery.
